J Candeed

is the musical embodiment of the optimistic spirit. With an upbeat and evolving sound, he blends elements of the hill-country blues, traditional bluegrass and psychedelic groove using a mandola, kick and snare drum. Born and raised in Mississippi, he was not only immersed in the hypnotic grooves of R.L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough but also in the traditional gospel melodies ringing from the church pews.

Embarking on a solo musical journey after 20 years of intimate collaboration was a calculated but fruitful risk, opening up new regions and audiences to introduce this infections style of crossover music to.

Since making the move to Raleigh, NC in late 2019, J Candeed has headlined venues up and down the east coast.  In October of 2020, he released his second studio effort in a self-produced EP entitled Part I, and is set to release his second full length album “Road to Joy” on October 1, 2022.
