Long Bio

Having gigged for over 20 years, Candeed brings a calming and jovial spirit to his live performances as well as his studio efforts. The message has always been about having fun and enjoying the beautiful parts of a complicated human experience. His songs are rooted in philosophical principles that have existed for centuries while telling stories about the modern day struggle.

His stage name and presence comes from the 18th century French novel, Candide, and each song tells a story that enlightens the listener on multiple levels. Each of his 4 albums touch on themes in existentialism, stoicism, and aesthetics. The idea of freedom permeates through his live performance as he embraces the unexpected and can turn simple songs into compelling sonic soundscapes using a loop pedal.

He gigs regularly throughout the year playing venues large and small, while spreading the gospel and purity of live music. He is currently working on 3 solo albums while releasing live albums with his trio the Particle Accelerators. Each album tells its own story ranging from electric instrumental, to stripped down acoustic, to full band electric rock. He also hosts a live music series in Raleigh, NC, called “Better Days” where he invites other regional musicians to come play their original music and to share their stories. “Musical expression should know no bounds and we should embrace the idea of artistic expression in any form.”
